Job summary

HazTek Safety Management is seeking a Safety Watcher in North Jersey to provide continuous site safety coverage around energized substations and switchyards. You will monitor activities, identify hazards, verify credentials, and work with contractors and safety personnel to uphold safety requirements.

The role supports safe and authorized operations, with a focus on preventing unsafe conditions and promptly addressing concerns during construction and modification projects.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of full-time, consistent work experience.
• Experience in a safety or security environment.
• OSHA 30 Hour Construction or General Industry preferred.
• NCS First Aid/CPR/AED Certification preferred.
• Construction Industry Experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide safety coverage at assigned active construction sites.
• Conduct routine visual observations of personnel, work activities, and site conditions.
• Identify unsafe conditions, behaviors, practices, or activities.
• Promptly communicate identified safety concerns to the appropriate personnel.
• Intervene when appropriate to prevent or address unsafe activities.
• Exercise Stop the Job authority when an identified condition warrants immediate intervention.
• Support contractors and project personnel in maintaining a safe work environment.
• Monitor site activities for compliance with applicable site safety requirements.
• Maintain a visible and active safety presence at assigned sites.
• Verify required identification, safety, security, and access badges for personnel.
