Base Pay Range

$40.00/hr - $55.00/hr

Employment Type: Contract (3-6 months) with option for direct hire, full-time employment post contract

Location: Based in Washington, Northwest USA with extensive travel to surrounding states

Hourly Rate: $40 - $55 per hour, commensurate with experience

Job Responsibilities:
  • Install, test, inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain protective relays and associated substation equipment.
  • Perform relay calibration, function testing, and commissioning for transmission and distribution systems.
  • Conduct detailed relay protection scheme reviews and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to implement relay settings and configurations as per project requirements.
  • Respond promptly to substation emergencies and provide technical support during outage situations.
  • Document all maintenance activities, test results, and equipment status accurately.
  • Conduct site assessments and recommend improvements for reliability and efficiency.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in substation relay testing, maintenance, and commissioning.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and relay wiring diagrams.
  • Familiarity with SEL, GE, or Siemens relay testing equipment and software.
  • Strong understanding of electrical power systems, protection principles, and relay coordination.
  • Ability to travel extensively within the Northwest USA region and occasionally beyond.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification in relay testing and maintenance (e.g., NETA, NICET).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
