Job summary

I & S Group, Inc. in Bloomington, MN seeks a Substation Relay & Control Engineer to design and procure substation projects for major clients. This role may serve as a technical specialist on HV substations and will interface with clients and vendors to deliver drawings and schematics.

The ideal candidate has a BS in Electrical Engineering and 3+ years in consulting or substation design, with EIT preferred and PE pursuit possible. This is a Full Time position with ISG Employee Ownership benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering degree required.
• 3+ years of previous consulting or substation engineering/design experience required.
• EIT certification preferred.
• May be working towards PE License certification.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Project Engineer on routine to complex projects and multi-discipline projects.
• Coordinate work with other disciplines.
• Interface with clients and vendors.
• Create One Line Diagram, Three-line Diagrams, AC and DC schematics and wiring diagrams, and Protection & Control Diagrams for High Voltage Substations.
• Coordinate all aspects of project document completion with clients and other design professionals.
• Check progress of work and alert the Project Manager to scope or service changes.
• Perform necessary field measurements independently.
• Work with code officials and other design professionals for interpretations or exemptions.
• Promote the use of and contribute to company design/production standards.
• Assume responsibility for engineering within the discipline for routine projects.
• Perform and may direct construction support/management on routine and simple projects.
• May direct construction observation of others on simple projects.
• Assist drafting and design staff as a resource for design questions.
• Manage & Coordinate drafters and designers in drafting required drawings for substation projects.

Substation Relay & Control Engineer

Compensation: $80,000 - $120,000 / year

We are seeking a Substation Engineer who will be responsible for the design and procurement for substation projects. May serve as a technical specialist for substation projects. This position will work on projects directly associated with FirstEnergy, one of ISG’s trusted and longstanding client partners.

Essential Duties

• Serve as Project Engineer on routine to complex, single-discipline projects and routine to complex multi-discipline projects.
• Coordinate work with other disciplines.
• Will interface with clients and vendors.
• Able to create One Line Diagram, Three-line Diagrams, AC and DC schematics and wiring diagrams, and Protection & Control Diagrams for High Voltage Substations.
• Coordinates all aspects of project document completion within the company and externally with clients and other design professionals.
• Checks the progress of work and alerts the Project Manager to needed changes to the scope or other services.
• Performs necessary field measurements independently.
• Works with code officials and other design professionals when an interpretation or exception to the building code and client standards is required.
