TheCorporate LLC is seeking a Senior Substation Project Engineer in Sacramento, CA. This senior role leads engineering and design of complex electric substation projects, delivering technical direction and mentoring to engineers while coordinating across departments.

The position supports hybrid work from a remote office and assigned locations, with travel around the territory for project execution and collaboration with vendors, clients, and public agencies.

Qualifications

• Minimum: BS Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited US curriculum.
• Minimum: 8 years of cumulative experience in electrical engineering and design.
• Desired: California PE license.
• Desired: Experience in multiple large-scale, large-budget electric substation projects.
• Desired: Experience in substation engineering.
• Desired: Skilled in project management.

Responsibilities

• Manage large complex projects and perform engineering analyses, studies, and develop conceptual designs.
• Lead, coach, direct, and assist technical employees and teams on technical issues. May act as an engineering mentor.
• Assist in finalizing contract project specification and technical evaluation of contract project bids.

• Resolves problems of complex scope. Assignments may provide an opportunity for creative or non-standard approaches.
• External contacts are with contractors, vendors and local public agencies with ministerial authority. Internal contacts are with clients, project team members, and company management.

• Hybrid, 2 days in office/week, in West Sacramento, Fresno, or Oakland.
• Re 20% Travel: Area includes all of the territory (almost to Oregon, down to Santa Barbara, and almost to Tahoe).
• Equipment: laptop will be provided. Any other tools must be vendor-provided.

Department Overview

The hardworking coworkers of Electric Engineering ensure all manners of electric engineering---including electric standards and process safety, electric design engineering, instrumentation testing and controls, undergrounding, electric regulatory compliance and electric investment planning---are in place to safely enable a strategic and stable workplan for our Electric Operations partners. Our organization is accountable for program planning, financial budgeting, and project execution and delivery of all electric engineering projects. Electric Engineering is comprised of approximately 2,000 coworkers.

Position Summary

This position is represented by Engineers and Scientists of California (ESC) subject to collective bargaining.

This is a senior-level engineer job that requires mastery of the journey engineer job duties and is responsible for leading engineering and design of complex projects. Applies extensive knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices to resolve complex problems with only general direction. Provides leadership, coaching, technical direction, knowledge transfer and assistance to technical employees and teams. Additional responsibilities beyond the Project engineer include, but are not limited to, the following: Deliver presentations, lead team meetings, interpret industry practices and codes.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the Service Territory.

May provide technical direction to less experienced team members. Exchanges information and solves problems with others outside the team.

Qualifications

Minimum:

• BS Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited curriculum in the US or the equivalent from outside the US
• 8 years of cumulative experience in electrical engineering and design
