Job description

Siemens Energy and Siemens Gamesa are becoming Omterra. \"We energize society\" by supporting our customers to make the transition to a more sustainable world, based on innovative technologies and our ability to turn ideas into reality. With nearly 100,000 employees around the world, we shape the energy systems of today and tomorrow.

Join Siemens Energy as a Project Engineer and take an active role across the full project lifecycle, from design through construction, commissioning, and handover. You’ll bring multidisciplinary teams, clients, and suppliers together, lead technical discussions, and turn complex project requirements into coordinated engineering deliverables. You’ll help resolve technical interfaces, support equipment procurement, connect engineering decisions with field execution, and keep technical and commercial priorities aligned. This is your opportunity to coordinate critical engineering work that helps project teams deliver with clarity, quality, and confidence.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Lead engineering coordination across multidisciplinary teams, project management, and clients to align technical requirements and keep activities moving forward.

  • Facilitate technical discussions, clarify responsibilities across disciplines, and follow through on open issues so teams have the information they need.

  • Collaborate with procurement, engineering specialists, and suppliers to turn project requirements into clear equipment specifications and scopes of work.

  • Coordinate technical evaluations, design reviews, equipment testing, cross-discipline reviews, drawings, and project records to support accurate deliverables.

  • Track engineering changes, review budget impacts with project and commercial management, and keep scope and delivery risks visible.

  • Support construction, commissioning, closeout, and handover by resolving technical questions, updating records, delivering as-built documentation, and sharing lessons learned.

What You Bring

  • You have a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar engineering discipline.

  • You bring 5–10 years of relevant experience in substation design or construction, power systems, or a comparable engineering or project delivery setting.

  • You have experience coordinating technical interfaces and multidisciplinary work; a background exclusively in substation design is not required.

  • Familiarity with air-insulated switchgear (AIS) and gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) equipment is a plus.

  • Experience in an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) environment and a Professional Engineer (PE) license are pluses, but not required.

  • You bring strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, time-management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to lead discussions, coordinate clients and suppliers, prioritize deadlines, and drive issues to resolution.

  • Ability to travel up to 15-20% domestically and on rare occasions international

  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.

About the Team

You’ll work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, project management, clients, suppliers, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams. The team connects technical requirements with project execution needs across design, procurement, field work, and handover. Together, you will coordinate reviews, resolve open technical questions, and keep drawings and project records accurate and current. You will also partner with commercial management to help make engineering changes and budget impacts visible. As projects close out, you will help capture lessons learned and share practical insights with design teams and the wider engineering group.
