Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Substation Project Manager to lead multi‑discipline engineering teams across the United States. The role focuses on substation programs for investor‑owned utilities and data center projects, from feasibility through commissioning and closeout.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years of relevant experience, PMP/CCM/DBIA certification within a year, and readiness to travel. This role reports to the Industrial Division and supports high‑impact electrical projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 10 years of related experience.
  • PMP (PMI), CCM or DBIA certification required within 12 months of hire or on the Approved Project Manager list.
  • Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
  • Equivalent additional directly related experience considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

  • Manage small to large complex substation projects from concept to construction support, including replacements and upgrades.
  • Lead proposal development with scope, schedule, staffing and cost considerations for competitive submissions.
  • Direct multi‑discipline substation teams and ensure quality, schedule and budget adherence.
  • Mentor project teams and ensure discipline and quality standards are met.
  • Serve as main client contact to deliver a superior client experience and grow the account.
  • Apply experience to solve high complexity problems with engineering support.
