Job summary

Kimley-Horn's Fort Mill office seeks a Substation Physical Design Engineer with 4+ years of experience to join the Power Delivery team. The role focuses on high-voltage and medium-voltage substation projects for utilities, renewables, and industrial clients.

Responsibilities include creating physical layouts, equipment arrangements, grounding, lightning protection, and construction drawing packages while coordinating with protection, civil, structural, and electrical disciplines.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of engineering experience in substation physical design.
• Proficiency with industry-standard design software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, Inventor).
• Experience with grounding, lightning protection, and lighting studies is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform conceptual and detailed HV and MV substation physical/electrical design for utilities and substations, including layouts, electrical arrangements, drawings, and grounding.
• Conduct engineering studies and calculations.
• Lead project teams and review bills of materials for substation physical projects.
• Develop proposals, scopes of work, and lead client meetings related to physical design.
