Job summary

OGE Energy Corp. is seeking an Engineer Senior or Lead to serve as a subject matter expert for substation power equipment. You will evaluate, test, commission, maintain, and operate substation gear while guiding field teams both on-site and remotely.

Senior level requires broad engineering experience with strong problem-solving and communication, while Lead adds a PE requirement and higher experience for effective leadership and industry interaction. Travel is involved.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering; PE/Engineer experience.
• Professional Engineer designation for Lead level.

Responsibilities

• Develop equipment specifications, perform factory inspection and FAT support.
• Develop power equipment test plans and review results for commissioning and maintenance.
• Provide on-site and remote support to field personnel during maintenance and repairs; lead root cause analysis of failures.
• Ensure safe operation by interpreting test results and recommending corrective actions.
• Develop technical procedures and guidelines for Substation Operations and contractors.
• Represent the Company in standards development, regulatory and manufacturer groups.
• Collaborate with manufacturers to identify issues and develop technical solutions.
• Support installation and development of substation monitoring equipment.

Job Summary

This job is being posted across two skill levels (Senior / Level III) and (Lead / Level IV). Applicants will be considered for the higher of the two levels in which they qualify. **

Acts as a company subject matter expert for substation power equipment, providing technical expertise and support for the evaluation, acceptance testing, commissioning, maintenance, and operation of substation power equipment.

LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY

Responsibilities are varied and complex. Often works outside area of assigned duties. Applies advanced skills in multiple areas. Resolves complex issues which impact business operations both inside and outside own department. Makes unreviewed decisions related to the area of responsibilities. Opinions carry significant weight in policy and strategy decisions.

Essential Functions

• Develop equipment specifications, perform factory inspection and certification, and support equipment factory acceptance testing (FAT)
• Developing power equipment test plans and procedures and review equipment test results to support power equipment commissioning, operations, and maintenance
• Provide on-site and remote support to field personnel during routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and equipment repairs. Lead and perform root cause analysis of failed in service equipment and misoperations.
• Ensures the safe operation of power equipment by acting as the subject matter expert to interpret power equipment test results and recommend corrective actions.
• Develops technical procedures and guidelines used by Substation Operations, Power Equipment Service Center, and contractors
• Represents the Company interests and develops influence within the industry by participating in standards development, regulatory, and manufacturer working groups
• Works with power equipment manufacturers to identify issues and develop technical solutions related to equipment failures, defects, and operational concerns
• Supports the installation and development of substation monitoring equipment

Requirements

SENIOR

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or PE And 5 years related engineering experience (at least 3 years as an Engineer and a maximum of 2 years related experience which may include non-Engineer experience such as Engineering Internship, Design, Drafting, and Engineering Tech experience. This type of experience will be counted at half rate.)

LEAD

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering And 6 years related engineering experience (at least 4 years as an Engineer and a maximum of 2 years related experience which may include non-Engineer experience such as Engineering Internship, Design, Drafting, and Engineering Tech experience. This type of experience will be counted at half rate.)
• Professional Engineer designation (PE) required for the Lead level.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with factory acceptance testing of substation power equipment (transformers, breakers, etc).
• Experience with commissioning of substation power equipment (transformers, breakers, etc).
• Experience with the operation and maintenance of substation power equipment (transformers, breakers, etc).
• Experience with in-service and off-line diagnostic testing of substation power equipment (transformers, breakers, etc) to assess equipment health.
• Experience with Dissolved Gas Analysis (DGA), Sweep Frequency Analysis (SFRA), and Partial Discharge (PD) testing.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Requires travel by automobile or airplane, including some overnight and international trips.
• May be exposed to extreme conditions and inclement weather.
• May be required to work at heights up to and exceeding thirty (30) feet, underground and in confined spaces.
• May be required to work non-standard work schedules.

• Member will not be required to drive in order to perform their job duties.

SALARY RANGE

Senior: $100,000 - $128,357

Lead: $110,000 - $141,149
