Job summary

LeoForce is seeking a Substation Engineer in Fort Worth, TX, offering design leadership in protection & control for utility substations. You will develop complete packages including one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and SCADA interfaces, collaborating with cross‑functional teams and clients.

Ideal candidates have a BSEE (power systems) with FE license, 3+ years of substation design experience, and a drive for licensure.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering with power focus, Master’s acceptable in lieu.
  • FE license required; pursuit of PE license encouraged.
  • 3+ years in utility substation design packages (one-line, diagrams, schematics).
  • Experience with physical substation design."

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure design concurrence.
  • Develop complete protection & control design packages (one-line, diagrams, wiring, BOM).
  • Prepare SCADA design packages with I/O lists and data sheets.
  • Provide technical guidance to drafters and junior engineers.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients and prospects.
  • Present technical solutions clearly to customers.
  • Participate in client meetings and site visits.
  • Execute assignments independently under supervision.

Job Details

Build your future in our Substation Engineering group as a Substation or Senior Substation engineer. In this role, you will be a key contributor in the design and development of utility substation engineering design packages. These packages include one-line and three-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, AC/DC elementary schematics, circuit schedules, logic and operating diagrams, and related deliverables.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Substation Physical Engineering, Relay Settings, and other internal teams to ensure alignment and design concurrence
  • Develop complete P&C engineering design packages for protective relaying and communications systems, including one-line and three-line diagrams, AC and DC schematics, logic and functional diagrams, panel layouts, control house layouts, wiring and connection diagrams, interconnection diagrams, equipment specifications, and bills of materials
  • Prepare SCADA design packages, including input/output lists and point data sheets
  • Provide technical guidance and on-the-job training to drafters, engineering technicians, and junior engineers
  • Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with current and prospective clients
  • Present technical solutions clearly and confidently to customers, addressing questions and concerns in real time
  • Participate in client meetings and job site visits to gather or present engineering and design information
  • Execute assignments independently, with general direction provided by the Manager of Engineering and/or Lead Engineer for complex or non-routine projects
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with a power systems focus; a master’s degree may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree
  • International engineering degrees will be considered
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience developing complete utility substation engineering design packages, including AC one-line and three-line diagrams, DC schematics, logic and functional diagrams, panel layouts, interconnection diagrams, equipment specifications, and bills of materials
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) license required, with an interest in pursuing (or existing) Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Experience with physical substation design
  • Commitment to continuing education and professional licensure
