Job summary

Alliant Energy in Marshalltown, IA seeks a Substation Foreman to supervise construction and maintenance of substations and related equipment, ensuring reliability for customers.

You will oversee installation, testing, fault diagnosis, and coordination with field crews, reading schematics, and maintaining records; overtime may be required.

Candidates should have 2 years electrical theory education and 4 years field experience; strong safety culture and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• 2 years formal education in electrical and electronic theory and fundamentals equivalent to completion of CIE Course 1B.
• 4 years technical experience in installation, maintenance, and repair of metering, electrical and substation equipment.
• Related training through an accredited electrical apprenticeship program may be substituted for the 2 years formal education, as determined by the JATC.

Responsibilities

• Supervises the construction of substations and maintains electrical equipment within substations.
• Oversees installation, commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting of power transformers, breakers and switchgear.
• Reads wiring diagrams and schematics, and uses test equipment to locate and remedy faults.
• Makes records of tests, prepares maintenance papers, and coordinates with field crews.
• Performs line switching and reports for duty as required.
