Job summary

HDR is seeking a Substation Electrical Engineering CO-OP in Madison, WI, to gain real-world experience on challenging substation projects. You’ll work under supervision, apply engineering techniques, and collaborate with mentors and professionals across the Company.

You will create/modify substation drawings, perform grounding studies, and assist with wiring diagrams. Preference for students in an engineering program, with strong problem-solving and communication skills, and a GPA of 3.0+.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program.
• Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Basic Microsoft Office skills
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Responsibilities

• Offer real-world experience on exciting projects
• Connect with recent college graduates and our company leaders through mentoring and young professionals programs
• Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures
• Perform assignments under the direct supervision of a professional or Project Manager
• Create/modify substation physical drawings including equipment selection & placement according to project scope.
• Complete grounding studies to mitigate dangerous step & touch potentials within substations.
• Create/modify substation wiring diagram and control schematics according to project scope.
• Perform other duties as needed
