What You Will Do

GFT is seeking a Substation Drafter to join our power group in the St. Louis, MO office. This is an onsite position requiring five days per week in the office. As part of the power team at GFT you will engage in cutting‑edge projects that drive the future of energy infrastructure, providing solutions for power transmission, distribution, and renewable energy.

In this capacity you will learn the design aspects of substation projects from 15 kV to 500 kV and work with senior staff to strengthen your understanding of designing utility‑class electrical substations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare plans and details with limited complexity in support of broader engineering activities.
• Prepare schematic and wiring layouts.
• Collaborate with engineers to incorporate redline markups.
• Work within a design group to complete projects.

What You Will Bring

• Associate degree or pursuing a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
• At least two years of related experience in the substation or power industry.
• Demonstrated interest in substation or power engineering through academic coursework, internships, or past experiences.
• Working knowledge of CADD software.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Compensation

The salary range for this role is $28.00 – $35.00 per hour, depending on experience and geographic location.
