Job summary

Ameren's Substation Design Engineer will lead engineering design, project management and technical support for transmission substation projects. The role involves developing solutions, cost estimates, schedules and detailed designs, coordinating with drafting and other engineering groups, and providing consulting on standards.

Ideal candidates have a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, FE/PE considerations, 2+ years in substations, and strong analytical and leadership skills; Illinois/Missouri

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering required.
• Power option preferred; MS degree preferred.
• FE certification preferred; PE license or pursuit required in IL/MO.
• Two+ years of substation or related equipment experience; project engineering preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop engineering solutions, cost estimates, schedules and preliminary designs for substation projects.
• Perform detailed design, write and evaluate material and construction specifications.
• Coordinate drawing preparation with Drafting.
• Perform cost/benefit analysis for projects.
• Oversee project cost and scheduling; coordinate real estate, purchasing, drafting and related groups.
• Provide consulting on substations and substation standards development.
• Collaborate with Ameren Transmission substation design contractors.
