Job summary

HDR in Las Vegas seeks a Substation Project Engineer to design substations, including layouts, grounding, wiring diagrams, and equipment specs. You will coordinate with Civil, Structural and Transmission teams, mentor junior engineers, and conduct site visits through design, construction, and as-built phases.

Required: Bachelor's in Engineering, PE license, 5+ years in substation design; proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, and power design tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required.
  • PE license (Professional Engineer) is required.
  • 5+ years of experience in substation design.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation and design software (CDEGS, PLS CAD, Revit).
  • Active participation in an employee-owned culture is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Develop substation design deliverables: layouts, material lists, conduit routing and wiring diagrams.
  • Prepare equipment specifications for procurement and testing.
  • Coordinate design activities with Civil, Structural, Transmission Line teams.
  • Mentor junior engineers and coordinate QC reviews.
  • Conduct site visits during design, construction and as-built phases.
