Job summary

Mesa Associates, Inc. is seeking a Substation Associate Designer I to contribute to high voltage substation design projects. You will prepare deliverables such as One Line Diagrams, Substation Layouts, Foundation Plans, and Cable Schedules using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.

Onsite role in Knoxville or Chattanooga with collaboration under a Substation Engineering Group Lead; ideal candidates have an Associate degree, 0–2 years of experience, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in a relevant technical field.
• 0–2 years experience in the design of substation design deliverables.
• Proficiency in verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Must be able to complete assignments within budget and schedule with a high degree of accuracy.
• Works under the direction of a Substation Engineering Group Lead.
• Utilize AutoCAD based design standards.
• Performs technical preparation of deliverables and other project documents.
• Ensures deliverables comply with IEEE and/or client standards and meet applicable design requirements.

Mesa seeks a Substation Associate Designer I to be responsible for the design of deliverables associated with a high voltage substation design projects. Candidate must be familiar with the design of One Line Diagrams, Substation Layouts, Foundation Plans, Conduit/Raceway Plans, Grounding Plans, Bills of Materials, and Cable Schedules. The design will be done using Autodesk products, mainly Inventor and AutoCAD.

• Expertise utilizing AutoCAD and/or Inventor
• Knowledge of Power Systems or Substation Design
• Keen interest in learning and using the latest Autodesk software tools, methods, and technologies to develop Power Substation design
