Job summary

The Providence Center is seeking a Substance Use Specialist to coordinate services for consumers and provide individual mental health and substance abuse counseling. The role involves working with a multidisciplinary team to plan and implement therapeutic services and support consumer independence.

Requirements include an Associate's degree (Bachelor's preferred), RI licensure or CADC in lieu of licensure, and 1–3 years of experience in substance use therapy.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred in Human Services or related field.
• RI licensure required: LCDP, LICSW, LCSW, LMHC, LMHC-A, LMFT, LMFT-A; CADC accepted in lieu of licensure.
• Minimum 1-3 years of experience in substance use therapy and working with the dually diagnosed.
• Bilingual Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual mental health and/or substance abuse counseling/therapy.
• Treat consumers with respect and maintain confidentiality.
• Assist consumers with goal setting, problem solving, and contract/limit setting.
• Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to plan and implement therapeutic services.
• Coordinate community outreach and assist with referrals to detox or residential treatment.
• Attend to crisis or emergency situations in a calm, professional manner.
