Job summary

Serenity Pointe in Cape Girardeau, MO seeks a Substance Use Disorders Counselor to deliver counseling in residential and/or outpatient settings and guide clients through treatment phases.

The role requires SUD credentials with a bachelor’s degree preferred; a fourth year of relevant experience may substitute for the degree. Strong collaboration with a multidisciplinary team is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher preferred; four years of SUD experience acceptable with HS/HiSet.
• Must be certified or registered through the Missouri Credentialing Board (CADC, CRADC, CRAADC, or RADC-P).
• Co-Occurring Disorder Professional: degree preferred; CCDP/CCDP-D or licensed with SUD experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide services within the four performance domains: Screening, Assessment & Engagement; Counseling; Treatment Planning, Collaboration & Referral; Professional responsibilities.
• Deliver Individual and Group Counseling and Group Education as scheduled.
• Advocate for persons served at case and community levels; participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings.

Job Purpose

Provide counseling to individuals with a substance use disorder in a residential and/or outpatient setting. Facilitate an individual’s treatment progress while guiding them through each phase of their substance use disorder treatment.

Qualifications

Certified SUD Counselor- Bachelor’s Degree or higher preferred. Applicants with a High School diploma or HiSet certificate and at least four years of applicable SUD experience may be considered. Must be certified or registered through the Missouri Credentialing Board. Relevant credentials are; CADC, CRADC, CRAADC, or RADC-P.

Co-Occurring Disorder Professional- Bachelor’s Degree or higher preferred. Must be certified through the Missouri Credentialing Board (Relevant credentials are; CCDP or CCDP-D) OR licensed/provisionally licensed with one year of SUD treatment experience.

Core Job Duties

• Provide Individual Counseling, Group Counseling, and Group Education as scheduled.
• To Advocate for Person(s) served on a case and community level.
• Participate in multi-disciplinary treatment team staffing meetings.
• Represent the agency in a caring and professional manner.
• Adherence to all applicable evidence-based practice models.
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of diagnostic criteria sets for substance use and/or mental disorders.
• Orally communicate information effectively and accurately.
• Assure program operates within the constraints of the agency’s certification (CARF, DMH) standards and strategic plan related to clinical care.
• Abide by program and agency policies and procedures.
• Other job duties and special projects as assigned.
