Job summary

Health Connect America in Virginia seeks a Substance Use Disorder Therapist to join our team. This full-time position supports assessments, group and individual therapy, and family education for clients facing addiction, under licensed supervision.

You’ll engage with clients where they are—at home, in the community, or in our offices—and contribute to evidence-informed care. We value flexibility, staff well-being, and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in human services or related field is required.
  • Must be approved by the state of VA to be a Resident in Counseling (LPC Resident) or approved to be a Supervisee in Social Work (LCSW-Supervisee).

Responsibilities

  • The Substance Use Disorder Therapist works under the supervision of a Licensed staff approved by the Virginia Board of Counseling or Social Work. The Substance Use Disorder Therapist will assist with assessments, facilitate group sessions, individual services and other program services for clients who suffer from addiction.
  • Perform intake screening and assist with assessments unless otherwise assigned to a central intake staff.
  • Perform and assist with program administrative functions including but not limited to psychosocial assessments and admission documentation, contacts with all referral sources and family, urine drug screens, and ensure that treatment has been authorized with the payer source both initial and concurrent.
  • Take an active role in psychoeducational programming to include didactic, audio visual, and other formats of teaching that are appropriate for this level of care.
  • Perform and assist with the clinical group process portion of the program using industry recognized therapeutic modalities and interventions.
  • Perform and assist with individual and family sessions as needed.
  • Perform and assist with the weekly family education and weekly programs.
