Job summary

High Point New Bedford is seeking a Clinician to join our health and human service team in New Bedford, MA. This full-time role runs Tue-Fri 8:00–4:30 and Sat 1:00–9:30, with comprehensive benefits and professional growth opportunities.

Education must be a Bachelor's, Master's or independently licensed. The position emphasizes direct patient care, assessments, counseling, discharge planning, and collaboration with the treatment team to help clients achieve stability and recovery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree and/or independently licensed in a related field.
  • Minimum of one year of supervised substance abuse counseling experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Understanding of the relationship between substance abuse and mental health issues and/or self-help programs.
  • Ability to facilitate a group/lecture.
  • Comply with Federal Regulations, HIPAA and confidentiality policies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care to patients – assessments, individual counseling, discharge planning, treatment plans, daily progress notes and group sessions.
  • Link patients with aftercare services prior to discharge and aid access to outpatient services.
  • Attend unit meetings, case conferences and mandatory trainings; maintain caseloads and ensure timely records.
  • Respect patients' rights and maintain ethical boundaries; participate in treatment team activities.

Status/Shift: Full Time - Tuesday - Friday are 8am - 4:30pm and Saturday is 1pm - 9:30pm

High Point has programs located throughout Southeast Massachusetts offering a full continuum of care for substance use and mental health treatment, including inpatient, outpatient, residential, and community-based services.   • Maintains and submits any current Licensure or Certificate necessary for the performance of the position
  • Comply with Federal Regulations, 42 CFR Part 2, Confidentiality of Alcohol Abuse Policy and HIPAA Regulations
  • Participate in Treatment Team Meetings
  • Maintain assigned caseload; Providing direct care to patients – including assessments of the new patients, individual counseling, discharge planning, treatment plans, daily progress notes, daily groups, group note completion and completion of bio-psychosocial assessments
  • Responsible for each assigned patients medical records. All records are to be professional, complete and thorough with entries made in a timely manners
  • Provide direct care to the patients. This care will include, but not limited to, individual counseling, group facilitation, lectures, orientation for new patient’s, discharge & aftercare planning, & case management of patients assigned
  • Responsible for linking patient’s with aftercare services prior to discharge and aiding the patient and his/her family access outpatient services when appropriate
  • Attend all unit, facility meetings and case conferences as directed by the Clinical Director
  • Attend mandatory trainings
  • Responsible for continued education in the field of substance abuse and related courses
  • Responsible for contacting the insurance company for authorization, as needed
  • Utilize walkie-talkie as campus responder
  • Utilize standards precautions at all times
  • Demonstrates behaviors that recognize the rights of patients as defined by the patient’s rights
  • Other duties as assigned by the Program Director, the Clinical Director, and/or the Senior Clinician
Clinician Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree &/or independently licensed in a related field
  • Minimum of one (1) year of supervised substance abuse counseling experience
