The Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC) is seeking Drug Treatment Counselors to fill full-time roles across multiple locations in Alabama. The position provides guidance to inmates in a substance abuse treatment setting, including education, group processing, and individual interactions.

Applicants must have a bachelor's degree in any major (or a High School Diploma/GED with substitution) and at least one year of substance abuse counseling experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in any major required or HS diploma/GED with substitution.
• At least 1 year of substance abuse counseling experience.
• Substance abuse counseling experience above the minimum can substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.

Responsabilités

• Manage all aspects of a Substance Abuse Treatment file from pre-treatment through aftercare.
• Document progress and behaviors.
• Develop individualized treatment plans and post-recovery strategies.
• Facilitate individual sessions.
• Facilitate group sessions using ADOC approved curricula.
• Identify barriers to treatment and recovery.
• Facilitate risk/needs assessments.
• Complete monthly reports.
• Attend routine Substance Use Treatment meetings and annual training.
