Job summary

The GEO Group is seeking a Substance Abuse Counselor for a correctional setting in East St. Louis, IL. You will deliver didactic and individual counseling, facilitate group sessions, and select instructional materials for the substance abuse program. You will stay updated on developments in the field and collaborate with related professionals.

This full-time role emphasizes compassionate service delivery, program quality, and reintegration-focused care within GEO's correctional services.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in a social or human services field preferred.
• Certification in Alcohol and Drug Counseling within two years of employment.
• Experience providing human service functions preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide relevant Substance Abuse information for class curriculum.
• Facilitate didactic educational presentations, group counseling, and individual counseling sessions.
• Select and recommend new instructional materials and programs for use in the substance abuse program.
• Maintain knowledge of new developments in the field of substance abuse.
• Maintain a collegian relationship with other substance abuse professionals, programs, and associations.
• Complete required testing, assessment, and psychosocial history on incoming residents as required.
• Participate in related training for substance abuse.
