The Brien Center in Massachusetts seeks a substance abuse counselor to provide counseling within the ACCS program, teaching recovery skills and reducing substance use. You will develop person-centered treatment plans and collaborate with care coordinators and DMH case managers.

Responsibilities include delivering trainings, coordinating team meetings, and ensuring culturally and linguistically appropriate care. Weekend/evening flexibility and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifikationen

• High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) and Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) I/II in Massachusetts.
• Prior experience in individual and group substance abuse counseling.
• Excellent knowledge of dynamics of substance abuse treatment and education.
• Basic knowledge of diagnostic and treatment planning.
• Basic knowledge of computers.
• Basic knowledge of community resources.
• Excellent oral & presentation skills.
• Basic leadership skills.
• Ability to work on an interdisciplinary team.
• Flexibility to meet new enrollees including weekends/evenings.
• Ability to delegate effectively.
• Ability to facilitate groups in community locations.
• Valid driver’s license and insured vehicle for agency business.

Aufgaben

• Adheres to state/federal regulations and organization policies.
• Provides short-term individual and group counseling.
• Attends local and out-of-area meetings for referrals.
• Attends hospital discharge meetings; communicates events.
• Provides clinical oversight to GLE and Integrated teams.
• Develops person-centered treatment plans with goals.
• Facilitates recovery meetings and team meetings.
• Coordinates treatment with interpreters and authorized representatives.
• Meets clients weekly for check-ins.
• Develops plans incorporating natural and community supports.
• Delivers substance abuse, recovery, and stages of change trainings to staff.
• Completes substance abuse assessments and treatment plans.
• Completes necessary paperwork timely.
• Coordinates treatment components with Integrated Team.
• Educates clients about Harm Reeducation and connects to community programs.
• Consults to community agencies on substance abuse.
• Serves as LPHA when warranted.
