Job summary

Crossroads Treatment Centers in the United States seeks a Substance Abuse Counselor to provide individual counseling and clinical assessments for complex patients. You will design and update treatment plans, coordinate care, and assist with discharge planning while managing a caseload and ensuring compliance with treatment requirements.

The role involves collaboration with nurses and providers to deliver holistic care and may include facilitating urine drug screening.

Qualifications

• General experience working with underserved populations in a clinical setting.
• Lived addiction experience is a plus.
• Certifications/licenses in addiction counseling are preferred.

Day in the Life of a Substance Abuse Counselor

• Provides individual counseling to highly complex patients
• Conducts clinical assessments to appropriately assess patient’s treatment needs
• Designs and updates the patient’s treatment plan, including care coordination, referrals, and discharge planning
• Manages assigned caseload and compliance with clinical treatment requirements
• Collaborates with nurses and providers to provide holistic treatment services
• Facilitates urine drug screening for patients

Schedule and Hours

• Early morning schedule with early afternoon out times. Expected participation in a rotating Saturday shift (frequency depends on current staff count).
• Expected hours: 37–40 per week
• Typical days: 4:45AM – 1:00PM, Monday–Friday; rotating Saturdays 5:30AM – 10:30AM.

Education and Experience Requirements

• General experience working with underserved populations in a clinical setting.
• Lived addiction experience is a plus.
