Management & Training Corporation in Kyle, Texas is seeking a Substance Abuse Counselor I (pay dependent on licensure) to join the corrections program team. This full-time role runs Monday through Friday, with an 8-hour shift, and offers a comprehensive benefit package.

The counselor provides counseling, performs assessments, participates in treatment plans, maintains records, and supports offenders' path to recovery within a Therapeutic Community framework at Kyle Correctional Center.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current LCDC-I registration or CCJP-A certification from Texas.
• Must obtain LCDC license or CCJP within five years of registration.
• Valid Texas driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Must complete CAT and annual in-service training and background checks.
• Maintain Counselor Intern status or CCJP-A for continued employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide substance abuse counseling and recovery skills training.
• Participate in offender orientation, groups, and individual counseling sessions.
• Maintain a Therapeutic Community within the facility with staff collaboration.
• Interview and evaluate offenders for program participation.
• Conduct comprehensive assessments using valid tools to determine needs and risk.
• Contribute to Individual Treatment Plans based on assessments and collateral info.
• Maintain offender records and generate reports and workload statistics.
• Implement follow-up plans and disseminate community resources for post-release care.
