Day in the Life of a Substance Abuse Counselor

• Provide individual counseling to highly complex patients.
• Conduct clinical assessments to appropriately assess patient’s treatment needs.
• Design and update the patient’s treatment plan, including care coordination, referrals, and discharge planning.
• Manage assigned caseload and ensure compliance with clinical treatment requirements.
• Collaborate with nurses and providers to provide holistic treatment services.
• Facilitate urine drug screening for patients.

Schedule

• Expected hours: 23-29 hours per week.
• Monday: 9:00am – 7:00pm
• Tuesday–Friday: 8:00am – 5:00pm

Education and Experience Requirements

• General experience working with underserved populations in a clinical setting.
• Lived addiction experience is a plus.
• Qualified candidates will hold one or more of the following certifications/licenses:
• LMSW
• LCSW
• LPC CSAC
• Resident in Counseling or CSAC‑S

Career Advancement

Clear, climbable structure into Counselor levels (1, 2, 3) based on the certification or license held. Targeted caseloads follow state regulations and can range from 40-55 patients. We offer excellent training for new employees and provide necessary supervision to those in process of becoming fully certified or licensed.
