Job summary

Crossroads Treatment Centers in South Carolina seeks a Substance Abuse Counselor to provide individual counseling to highly complex patients, conduct clinical assessments, and design and update treatment plans. The role involves coordination with nurses and other providers and requires an early start; schedule includes Saturday rotation.

Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree; a Master’s in Behavioral Health is preferred; SC licensure/certification is required, and lived addiction experience

  • Must be licensed or certified in SC.
  • Experience treating opiate-addicted patients is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual counseling to highly complex patients.
  • Conduct clinical assessments to determine treatment needs.
  • Design and update patient treatment plans, including care coordination, referrals, and discharge planning.
  • Manage assigned caseload and ensure compliance with clinical requirements.
  • Collaborate with nurses and providers to deliver holistic care.
  • Facilitate urine drug screening for patients.
  • Adhere to schedule with early start times; participate in Saturday rotation.

As an equal opportunity employer, we celebrate diversity and are committed to an inclusive environment for all employees and patients.Day in the Life of a Substance Abuse CounselorProvides individual counseling to highly complex patients.Conducts clinical assessments to appropriately assess patient’s treatment needs.Designs and updates the patient’s treatment plan, including care coordination, referrals, and discharge planning.Manages assigned caseload and compliance with clinical treatment requirements.Collaborates with nurses and providers to provide holistic treatment services.Facilitates urine drug screening for patients.Schedule and HoursOur clinical team enjoys an early morning schedule with early afternoon out times. It is expected for all clinical team members to participate in our Saturday rotation. The frequency of this rotation is determined by the current staff count. Expected hours for this role are 37 hours per week.Monday - Friday 4:45 am - 12:45 pmEducation and Experience requirementsGeneral experience working with underserved populations in a clinical setting.Lived addiction experience is a plus.Qualified candidates will hold one or more of the following certifications/licenses:Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.Master’s degree in a behavioral health field preferred.Must be licensed or certified in SCExperience treating opiate-addicted patients is a plus.Candidate must be willing to start early in the morning, as work hours start at 5:00 AMNo legal impediments to serving in a licensed opiate treatment program.Must have a valid driver's license.Position BenefitsConsistent schedule with early in times and out timesAdvancement opportunities.
