Job summary

Prospect House is seeking a full-time Substance Use Disorder counselor / criminal justice liaison for our adult male treatment facility in Cincinnati, OH. The role starts as a trainee / fill-in with weekend support and community outreach, progressing to a full clinical caseload and leading clinical process groups.

Job description

Position

Full-time Substance use disorder counselor / criminal justice liaison.

Purpose of the role

We are seeking a new member of our dedicated counseling team who will begin as a trainee / fill-in Substance Use Disorder (SUD) counselor at our adult male treatment facility. Combined responsibilities will include ongoing clinical training, administrative support, and community outreach. Our new counselor will start by supporting weekend operations, assisting with in the community and criminal justice system to help build our client census, and co-facilitating therapy groups. The ultimate goal is to transition into managing a full clinical caseload and leading clinical process groups.

Key responsibilities

• Clinical Training: Report directly to the Clinical Director and co-facilitate group therapy sessions with senior clinicians, progressing to independently running clinical process and psychoeducational groups.
• Case Management & Documentation: Learn and maintain proficiency in our Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant charting.
• Facility Operations: Perform weekend desk duties, monitor facility safety, and supervise client work details, projects, or special events.
• Community Outreach: Collaborate with law enforcement, judicial systems, and community partners to support outreach and census-building initiatives.
• Team Collaboration: Participate in weekly treatment team meetings to ensure cohesive, high-quality client care.

Education & Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED required.
• Licensure: Valid Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA) preliminary certificate or higher required.
• Recovery Knowledge: Strong foundational understanding of 12-step recovery principles and evidence-based modalities.
• Core Competencies: Demonstrated emotional maturity, strong boundary-setting and de-escalation skills, and the ability to work effectively with a diverse adult male population in early recovery.
