Job summary

Clearbrook Group Services Inc. seeks a Subrogation Specialist to join our Chicago office, with options for Albany, Los Angeles, Omaha or Richmond.

This is a 100% in‑office role; on‑site during business hours and reports to the SVP, Specialty Claims (San Antonio). You will adjudicate auto and workers’ comp subrogation claims, evaluate liability, negotiate settlements, manage litigation, and coordinate resources to maximize financial outcomes.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years adjudicating auto or workers’ compensation claims.
• Bachelor’s degree required; substitutions allowed with 4 years related claims experience.
• Strong business acumen and profitability understanding.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and time-management skills.
• Fluency in English.

Job description

We are looking for a highly capable Subrogation Specialist to join our team and work from our Chicago office. Alternatively, this position can be filled in our Albany, Los Angeles, Omaha or Richmond offices. This is a 100% in-office position; candidates must be able to work on-site during standard business hours. The role reports to the SVP, Specialty Claims (San Antonio) and focuses on adjudicating subrogation of auto and workers’ compensation claims, evaluating liability, and pursuing, negotiating, and resolving claims.

Essential Responsibilities

• Adjudicate subrogation auto and workers' compensation claims of higher technical complexity within technical direction and authority.
• Negotiate settlements.
• Manage subrogation claims in litigation.
• Resolve generalized, non‑complex issues requiring broader issue understanding.
• Report to senior management and underwriters on claims trends and developments.
• Act as a resource for claims adjusters by answering subrogation-related questions.
• Manage diary to ensure timely resolution with optimal financial outcome.
• Identify, assign, and coordinate legal and expert resources for case resolution.
• Prepare reports for file documentation.
• Apply creative solutions to achieve the best financial outcome.
• Demonstrate appreciation and passion for strong claim management.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum of two years of adjudicating auto or workers’ compensation claims.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required; four additional years of related claims experience may substitute for the degree.
• Strong business acumen and understanding of insurance company operations and profitability.
• Exceptional customer‑service focus.
• Independently exercise sound judgment and discretion on significant matters.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and time‑management skills.
• Ability to articulate the financial value of work to senior stakeholders, including CEO level.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite; experience with URS Reinsurance Accounting System a plus.
• Polished professional written and verbal communication skills; fluent in English.

Pay Range

• Richmond: $78,250 – $92,250
• Albany & Chicago: $86,000 – $101,500
• LosAngeles: $94,000 – $110,500

Additional compensation includes an annual bonus based on company and individual performance and a generous benefits package, including health, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, paid time off, and professional development opportunities.
