Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Submarine Hull, Mechanical and Electrical (HM&E) Auxiliary Systems Technician to support the Submarine Technical Support Center (STSC) at NSB Groton, CT. This role requires extensive Navy HM&E experience and an active SECRET clearance, with duties spanning inspection, troubleshooting, testing, and technical oversight on 688 and 774 class submarines.

The position is hourly, with eligibility for overtime under the SCA, and includes comprehensive benefits.

Job description

Amentum is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Submarine Hull, Mechanical and Electrical (HM&E) Auxiliary Systems Technician with significant experience with U.S. Navy Submarine Hull, Mechanical & Electrical (HM&E) Auxiliary Systems to support the Submarine Technical Support Center (STSC) at Naval Submarine Base Groton (NSB Groton) in Groton, CT.

Responsibilities

• Provide onboard technical assistance to inspect, evaluate, troubleshoot, test, provide corrective actions, and/or technical oversight and guidance to resolve HM&E-related equipment deficiencies on 688 and 774 Class submarines.
• Serve as authority for direct fleet technical support on submarine hull, mechanical, and electrical (HM&E) systems.
• Apply knowledge, theory, and methodology in the analysis and resolution of problems encountered in troubleshooting assignments
• Support assessments, inspections, tests, and ship checks as required.

Minimum Qualifications

• Active SECRET US government clearance. Note: US citizenship is required to maintain a secret clearance.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Eight (8) years of full-time U.S. Navy submarine experience.
• SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of full-time demonstrated experience with submarine navigation, ship’s control, and atmosphere monitoring equipment/
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including experience/comfort interacting with senior/executive-level active-duty military and civilian Government employees.
• Effective organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills.
• Proficient with common productivity software including Microsoft Office and Project, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.
• FAMILIARITY AND EXPERIENCE WITH THE FOLLOWING HARDWARE AND SYSTEMS: High and Low Compressed Air Systems, High and Low-Pressure Air Compressors and Dehydrators, Reverse Osmosis Systems, Evaporator/Distilling Units, CO2 Scrubbers, COH2 Burners, Submarine Hydraulic Power Plants, Submarine Depth Gauge components, Ships Control Operations and Interfaces, Submarine Hatches, Submarine Air Conditioning/ Refrigeration Systems, Submarine Ventilation Systems, Chill Water Systems

Service Contract Act (SCA)

This is an hourly, overtime-eligible position that falls under the Service Contract Act (SCA). In accordance with the Health and Welfare provisions of the SCA, and in addition to your base hourly rate, you may be eligible to receive an additional health and welfare payment for each hour you work to ensure compliance with the minimums set forth by the act. The amount you are entitled to receive will vary depending upon the fringe benefits you select now and in the future.

Compensation

The hourly rate for this position is between $37.00 - $45.00 per hour. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

Compensation Details

$37.00 - $49.00
