Job summary

Chugach Government Solutions is seeking a Subject Matter Expert V to provide high-level SME support to the US Coast Guard and other customers. You will manage NIWC USCG IPT supervision and oversee lab testing while delivering critical mission support in dynamic environments.

The role requires extensive MILSATCOM experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, mission-critical setting, including potential travel and on-site activities.

Qualifications

• 17+ years operational experience in USCG MILSATCOM systems.
• Knowledge of USCG shipboard internal and external communications systems.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and related business software.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment background and pre-hire drug screening.
• US Citizenship with a valid US Passport.

Responsibilities

• SME support for MILSATCOM lab supervision.

• Provide underway mission support for fleet operators duplicating CASREP.

Job Overview

The Subject Matter Expert V will provide high-level subject matter expertise to the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) and other customers by managing the NIWC USCG IPT Supervision.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Duties

• Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) support for MILSATCOM lab supervision.
• Provide USCG IPT with testing oversite in the lab.
• Provide underway mission support for fleet operators duplicating CASREP to provide distant assistance.
• Create/edit job aids as required.
• Provide integration, installation, troubleshooting, onsite maintenance support, and technical training as required.
• Knowledge and use of systems include but are not limited to:
  • Legacy MILSATCOM radios
  • MUOS MILSATCOM radios
• Perform related work as assigned in an unsupervised, reactive, and mission critical environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Excellent oral communication skills including but not limited to customer interactions, formal and informal training, and meeting facilitation.
• Excellent written communications including but not limited to development and editing of business, operational, and technical documents, engineering changes, meeting and trip reports, Maintenance Procedures (MPC), training material, and after-action reports.
• Ability to deal with people in a professional and courteous manner.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment.
• Ability to organize and prioritize own work as well as assigned personnel.
• Ability to work alone or in a team environment as required.
• Ability to research and analyze operational data.

Job Requirements

Mandatory

• US Citizen with a valid US Passport
• SECRET Security Clearance
• 17 or more years operational experience in shore/shipboard based U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) MILSATCOM systems.
• Knowledge and use of USCG shipboard internal and external communications systems.
• Well verse in Microsoft Office and related business software.
• Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background and pre-hire drug screening.

Preferred

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Management, or a related field.
• One (1) year supervisory experience.

Working Conditions

• NIWC shore based lab

Physical Requirements

• Able to lift 50 lbs.
