Job Description

Our Damages/Cost Estimation group provides expert litigation support services to attorneys on construction matters including but not limited to construction defect claims, fire loss claims, and contract disputes. We are looking for a Senior level Construction Estimation Expert with prior experience as an Expert Witness testifying on damages and repair cost related to construction defect cases.

Responsibilities
  • Testify as an expert witness in court or arbitration regarding cost estimating opinions.
  • Develop cost of repair estimates for scopes of work based on engineering reports.
  • Manage multiple cost estimation related client matters involving construction defect claims and disputes.
  • Analyze construction plans, documents, and contracts to allocate cost estimate line items.
  • Attend site inspections to document conditions.
  • Perform and review electronic onscreen quantity takeoffs.
  • Utilize pricing databases (Xactimate/RS Means) to determine unit costs.
  • Compose expert reports detailing cost estimating strategies and breakdown.
  • Collaborate with teams to offer guidance and solve complex problems.
  • Coordinate with other team members and monitor progress on tasks.
  • Support the Managing Director with performance data, utilization, deadlines, timesheet data.
  • Meet utilization goals and travel as necessary.
  • Perform quality control of assigned work product.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field.
  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience with prior testifying Expert Witness experience in construction damages or cost related cases.
  • Working knowledge and ability to read and interpret construction drawings and perform cost estimating for residential, commercial, industrial structures.
  • Proficiency in construction software (Xactimate, Bluebeam, RSMeans, On‑Screen Takeoff, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience in business development, client relationship management, and proposal preparation.
  • Will consider previous expert witness experience in lieu of degree.

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities under high stress conditions.
  • Knowledge of computer operations and standard software packages (Word, Excel, Adobe).
  • Self‑awareness and flexibility in working with a variety of personalities.
