Job summary

Heartland Dental is seeking a Regional Hygiene Mentor of Operations to lead hygiene mentorship across sub‑regions while maintaining clinical practice for 16 hours weekly. You will collaborate with Operations to drive hygiene initiatives, build regional culture, and onboard new hygienists, ensuring patients receive excellent periodontal care aligned with Doctors’ plans.

Qualifications

• Current Heartland Dental supported hygienist.
• Must hold valid dental hygiene license in SC and have relevant degree.
• Proficient in dental hygiene procedures and medical history documentation.
• Willingness to attend virtual training sessions (or in‑person when possible).
• CPR Certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Coach and grow sub‑regional hygiene mentors and partner with Operations on hygiene initiatives.
• Practice clinical hygiene 16 hours per week while leading the hygiene business in the sub‑region.
• Build a strong regional culture among hygienists with Operations support.
• Identify and support sub‑regional hygiene mentor teams.
• Oversee hygiene initiatives and onboarding of new hygienists.
• Collaborate with RHMO and hygiene leadership through meetings (in person or virtual).
• Act as liaison between hygienists and business partners to focus on periodontal health and hygiene growth.

More About This Unique Role

• Coach and grow sub‑regional hygiene mentors while partnering with Operations to identify priority hygiene initiatives and incentives
• You will have the dual responsibility of practicing clinical hygiene 16 hours per week, while supporting the Regional Director of Operations by leading the business of hygiene in your sub‑region.
• With Regional Mentor of Operations collaboration, you will build a strong regional culture among hygienists.
• While partnering with a Regional Mentor of Operations, you will identify, build, and support a sub‑regional hygiene mentor team.
• Prioritize focuses and oversee hygiene initiatives and incentives.
• Ensure each newly hired hygienist receives a world‑class onboarding experience.
• Collaborate with other RHMOs and hygiene leadership team which provides a network of ongoing support through individual and group meetings, conducted either in person or virtually.
• As the RHMO, you will be the liaison between the hygienists in your region and the operational business partners, ensuring the region maintains a high focus on managing patient periodontal health according to doctors’ Treatment Plan for Predictability guidelines while growing the business of hygiene in the region.
• Other projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Current Heartland Dental supported hygienist
• Valid dental hygienist license in state of South Carolina and an Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree in dental hygiene
• Excellent working knowledge of overall dentistry and dental hygiene procedures, dental patient screening and medical history documentation
• Availability to attend virtual training sessions (or in‑person once conditions allow) periodically throughout the year.
• CPR Certification
• Clinical needs as required by office.
• Mastery level proficiency in clinical skills to include Velscope or Vizilite Pro, Diagnodent, digital scanner, digital x‑rays and electronic medical record systems
• Desire to continue learning and grow clinical skills to meet needs of patients and provide preventative care and overall maintenance of patients’ oral health.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift and carry up to 45 pounds at times
