Overview

Ulta Beauty seeks a Stylist to engage guests, consult on hair care needs, recommend products and services, and deliver quality professional services with an emphasis on the guest’s total look. The role supports the Experience Manager (EM) and the Assistant Services Manager (ASM) through performance, people, and process focus.

General Summary & Scope

The Stylist is responsible for providing exceptional guest service, meeting sales and productivity goals, and maintaining compliance with Ulta Beauty policies and safety standards. This position requires a passion for the beauty industry, excellent guest service skills, and strong product knowledge.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Performance

• Perform hair services including design, cuts, color, texture, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing (where applicable).
• Meet or exceed an average weekly sales goal of $800 and productivity goals for hair services, contributing to store sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrink objectives.
• Apply business acumen to understand drivers and identify growth opportunities.
• Conduct product demonstrations to drive sales and enhance guest experience.
• Support in‑store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives that provide an unrivaled guest experience.
• Stay informed about industry trends, products, and services, and communicate benefits to guests.
• Maintain prompt, regular attendance.

People

• Develop guest relationships through consultations and appropriate retail/service recommendations.
• Demonstrate high standards of customer service and salon image.
• Serve all guests, including walk‑ins, in a timely and efficient manner.
• Partner with skin therapists and the retail team to provide a total‑store guest experience.
• Build professional relationships with peers and brand partners to deliver exceptional service.
• Promote the guest loyalty program, credit, and Ulta Beauty app.
• Attend mandatory trainings and meetings for professional development.

Process

• Ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty policies, procedures, and standards.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures before, during, and after services, adhering to state board guidelines.
• Follow established service protocols to ensure a consistent and exceptional guest experience.
• Use booking and client systems to schedule guests for return services and events.
• Communicate supply needs to the EM for guest readiness.
• Maintain outstanding store operational standards, including salon, salesfloor, restrooms, backroom, break area, and other assigned areas.
• Adhere to the Ulta Beauty dress code.
• Protect company assets by following loss prevention best practices.
• Execute other operational tasks as directed.

Job Qualifications

Education

• Cosmetology license.

Experience

• Previous relevant salon experience preferred.

Special Position Requirements

The pay range for this position is $15.00 – $16.80 per hour or services pay, based on qualifications and other factors. Eligible associates may earn overtime and tips.
