Job summary

Central YMCA in Leeds is recruiting a Childcare Tutor to deliver English and Maths alongside vocational delivery. You will support learners to achieve qualifications and maintain high teaching standards in line with EIF.

An experienced childcare practitioner with a passion for education is welcomed to inspire the next generation of childcare professionals. You will be responsible for delivering engaging lessons, using IT systems to monitor progress, and working with specialist teams to support

Qualifications

  • PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification required.
  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in Childcare.
  • Recent relevant industry experience with children in early years/educational settings.
  • Sound understanding of safeguarding and promoting welfare of children and young people.

Responsibilities

  • Teach and deliver English and Maths to learners.
  • Support learning using IT and educational technologies; monitor progress and maintain records.
  • Maintain accurate learner records and complete documentation promptly.
  • Prepare learners for Ofsted inspections and contribute to inspection readiness.
  • Work effectively as part of a curriculum team to support learners aged 16–19 in FE or vocational settings.

Job description

We are recruiting a Childcare Tutor to join our expanding provision at our Leeds 2 centre., Alongside vocational delivery, you will support learners to achieve English and Maths (Functional Skills or GCSE), working with specialist teams, and uphold the highest standards of teaching in line with the Education Inspection Framework (EIF).

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Childcare practitioners who are passionate about sharing your knowledge and inspiring the next generation of childcare professionals. Whether you are an established Further Education Childcare Tutor, or an experienced childcare professional looking to take the next step into teaching, we will welcome applicants who have a genuine enthusiasm for supporting young people to achieve their potential and succeed in their chosen careers.

You will:

  • Be passionate about teaching, training, and learner success
  • Work confidently both independently and as part of a team
  • Be organised, proactive, and able to meet deadlines
  • Be motivated to support young people to achieve positive life outcomes
  • Be confident in using a range of IT systems and educational technologies to monitor learner progress, maintain records and support effective delivery.
  • Be able to manage administrative responsibilities effectively, maintaining accurate learner records, monitoring progress and completing documentation in a timely manner.
  • Experience of working within the Ofsted Education Inspection Framework, with an understanding of inspection requirements and experience of supporting or participating in Ofsted inspections being advantageous.
Essential Requirements
  • PGCE or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in Childcare.
  • Recent and relevant industry experience working with children in an early years, childcare, or educational setting.
  • A sound understanding of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Desirable
  • GCSE Grade 4 (C) or above, Functional Skills Level 2, or an equivalent qualification in English and Maths.
  • Experience of teaching or training learners aged 16-19 within a further education or vocational setting.
  • Experience of supporting learners with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and adapting teaching to meet individual learning needs.
  • Knowledge of the Ofstead Education Inspection Framework and inspection requirements., Support delivery of English and Maths (with specialist support)
