University of Utah is seeking a part-time Theatrical/Radio/TV Assistant to operate studio cameras, stage manage, and handle lighting for live and pre-recorded productions at PBS Utah on campus in Salt Lake City.

The role requires basic studio production experience, the ability to work Friday mornings and select mornings/afternoons, and a willingness to meet safety and maintenance standards in a dynamic television environment.

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of studio production experience.
  • Valid Utah Driver’s License preferred.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 40 lbs.

  • Operate a studio camera for live and pre-recorded productions
  • Stage manage
  • Operate the studio lighting consoles
  • Help setup and strike studio sets
  • Assist with maintenance and cleaning of the studios and prop rooms
  • Communicate and work effectively with other team members
  • Maintain a safe, clean and professional studio environment
  • Follow all OSHA guidelines for ladder, lift and chemical safety
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Studio Production Manager

Job Summary

PBS Utah is seeking a motivated and technically curious person to operate studio cameras, perform as a floor/stage manager, hang and point lighting instruments, and set-up and strike studio sets. The candidate should have a solid understanding of television production techniques such as good framing and composition, and have the ability to remain calm under pressure during live television productions.

Minimum Qualifications
  • A minimum 1 year of experience in studio production or equivalent.
Preferences
  • Valid Utah Driver’s License
  • Ability to climb a ladder and learn to use an electric lift
  • Ability to occasionally lift/carry 40 lbs
