Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno’s Fitness and Recreational Sports (FRS) is seeking a student to fill the position as social media and marketing content creator. You will be asked to develop multimedia content, through the production and editing of video and photos, for a variety of social media platforms including Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram. To achieve this, a variety of tools will be used including Adobe, Photoshop, and Illustrator. This will allow us as a department to promote involvement and use of the fitness center and to inspire members of the campus community to embrace our fitness values. You will also be responsible for developing and implementing long term comprehensive marketing strategies for Fitness and Recreational Sports to create future progress in reaching more students on campus.

  • Manage social media platforms with professional, up-to-date and relevant information regarding events in the fitness center and on campus and university information
  • Finalize and implement overall monthly strategies based on analytics and insights
  • Daily coverage of FRS and campus-wide events
  • Demonstrate strong writing and digital photography skills
  • Photograph and create content for social media platform
  • Promote social media within FRS (encourage staff to buy in to social media platforms)
  • Manage and recruit for our Student Ambassador program
  • Monitor, listen, and respond to users in a ‘social way’
  • Monitor trends in social media tools, applications, channels, design and strategy
  • Engage in dialogue and monitor patron comments and messages
  • Compile analytical report showing results for management
  • Create high quality and informative videos
  • Work with Programming Coordinator to create and implement marketing strategies
  • Work as pseudo programmer assisting other workers with event planning, staffing, and other tasks
  • Attend as many events as possible to live update social media, take photos, and promote future events
  • Identify threats and opportunities in user generated content surrounding the business
  • Report notable threats to appropriate management
  • Use technology programs including Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Candidate must be enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno
  • Candidate with experience writing, creating and posting written and visual content to various social media platforms is preferred but not necessary
