Dousman Transport Co., Inc. is seeking a part-time School Bus Aide in Jefferson, WI. The role involves assisting students with safety during transitions to and from school on the bus, implementing positive behavior management, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.

The ideal candidate must have a high school diploma, the ability to interact positively with passengers, and can physically perform job functions. Basic skills in reading, writing, and arithmetic are required.

Work conditions may involve various weather conditions, ensuring a supportive environment for students with special needs.

Qualifications

• Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required, normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to train safely to operate safety equipment and adaptive equipment.
• Ability to interact positively with all passengers, including students with disabilities or special needs.
• Ability to physically perform the job's essential functions including occasional to frequent walking, standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
• Regular attendance and punctuality required.
• Candidates must complete a background check, physical and tuberculosis test, and fitness for duty/drug screen.
• Prior experience working in childcare and/or with children with special needs is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for assisting with bus pick ups and drop offs as well as riding on the bus route for various schools or school districts.
• Support the transition of students from home to school and school to home.
• Help with emergency evacuation procedures.
• Complete required paperwork, such as daily attendance and bus behavior reports.
• Communicate and refer behaviors to appropriate school district personnel, bus driver, and Terminal Manager.
• Provide on-the-job training to new employees.
