Job summary

The Bishop’s School seeks a Full-Time School Bus and Van Driver with immediate start. Reporting to the Director of Transportation, drivers provide safe, reliable transport for students to school, events, and field trips. Schedule hours vary and may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and trips.

The role requires CDL/Class B, T-01, CPR, DOT medical, and experience with children. Base compensation is $28.00–$32.00 per hour, with benefits eligibility based on FTE.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED strongly preferred.
• California Driver's License required.
• Class B CDL with School Bus Certificate and Passenger Endorsement required.
• T-01 School Bus Driver Certificate required.
• Minimum of one year of school bus driving experience preferred.
• Two years of experience working with children preferred.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Basic proficiency with Google Workspace and the ability to learn transportation, scheduling, and communication systems.
• Secure communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to complete assigned routes safely and on schedule.
• Clean driving record; No traffic citations or at-fault traffic accidents within past five years.
• DOT Medical Certificate required.
• Ability to meet and maintain all CDL medical requirements, including vision and hearing standards.
• CPR certification required.
• California Highway Patrol First Aid Test completion or current First Aid Card.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport students to and from school and events.
• Follow all laws, regulations, and transportation policies.
• Ensure student safety during loading and unloading.
• Maintain appropriate student behavior and report concerns.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Report vehicle issues to the Director of Transportation.
• Maintain transportation schedules and complete routes on time.
• Review routes before trips and special assignments.
• Refuel when fuel is below half tank.
• Respond to emergencies and document appropriately.
• Communicate professionally with the school community.
• Attend safety meetings and training sessions.
• Complete daily vehicle inspections and logs.
• Check students in and maintain daily manifests.
• Perform other transportation-related duties.
