Job summary

Shenandoah Community School District is seeking Substitute Associates/Paraprofessionals to support elementary students in a one-to-one or small group setting under the guidance of teachers.

Ideal candidates have experience with students and strong communication skills. A background check is required to ensure a safe environment for students, and duties include assisting with instruction, record-keeping, and classroom preparation.

Qualifications

• Experience working with students is preferred.
• Ability to pass background checks including child/dependent adult abuse registry, sex offender registry, criminal history, and motor vehicle records.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a one-to-one aide or small group facilitator under the direction of the classroom or special education teacher.
• Help maintain classroom records for grading and attendance as directed by teachers.
• Prepare materials and equipment for class activities.
• Reinforce lessons by reviewing material with individual students or small groups.
• Supervise students during lunch, recess, field trips, and bus rides.
• Assist students who need additional help learning specific concepts.
