Job summary

The Anchorage School District is seeking a certified school counselor at Muldoon Elementary to join the Student Support Services team. The role reports to the site principal and aligns with the AEA 185-day work year.

You will deliver a developmental counseling program, provide education, prevention and intervention, counsel individuals and groups, collaborate with teachers and families, and support students' academic, social and emotional growth.

Qualifications

• Must have Alaska Type C Special Services certificate with endorsement as school counselor, guidance and counseling, or school social work.
• Completion of a school-based counseling internship with school age children.

Responsibilities

• Schedules students into appropriate academic course placements.
• Uses counseling techniques to accommodate varying functioning levels.
• Provides career and educational counseling and acts as a student advocate.
• Implements the prevention guidance curriculum through classroom lessons and integration in content areas.
• Serves as a consultant to staff and parents and supports teachers in student development.
• Counsels individuals and small groups toward social and emotional resiliency.
• Consults with parents and families on individual student needs.
• Leads in promoting a positive school climate and continuous professional growth.
