Job summary

Pepperdine University’s Straus Institute seeks an Assistant Director of Student Success to serve as the primary point of contact for academic advising, delivering data-driven guidance to online and on-ground graduate students pursuing degrees or certificates.

The role supports a diverse student body, coordinates New Student Orientation, registration, and graduation activities, and reports to the Managing Director.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a related field and 3 years of experience in academic advising or higher education administration.
• Strong empathy and active listening skills with diverse adult learners.
• Experience supporting non-traditional and international students in a rigorous program.
• Proficiency with web-conferencing tools and educational technologies.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary contact for academic advising and student inquiries for online and on-ground graduates.
• Conduct advising sessions and analyze DARs to guide degree completion timelines.
• Oversee enrollment, registration, and mandatory advising during initial term and graduating term.
• Coordinate New Student Orientation, registration windows, and graduation events.
• Maintain student handbooks and communicate policies and deadlines.
• Proactively outreach to struggling or inactive students to re-engage them.
