Job summary

Newton-Conover City Schools in Newton, North Carolina is seeking a Student Success Specialist (K-12) who also serves as a bus driver. The role combines behavioral support with academic advocacy across elementary, middle, and high school environments.

You will implement behavior plans, monitor progress, and provide one-on-one assistance while transporting students to activities as needed. The position requires a high school diploma with Highly Qualified Status or equivalent, and may require

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Must achieve Highly Qualified Status: either an associate degree or higher, 48 college credits, or WorkKeys scores.
• Ability to drive a school bus with required license or willingness to obtain NC CDL with P and S endorsements.
• Ability to obtain NC CDL endorsement and satisfy district requirements.

Responsibilities

• Implement and track Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) aligned with PBIS and MTSS.
• Support credit recovery and academic remediation for students with behavioral disruptions.
• Provide structured SEL programming to replace challenging behaviors.
• Transport students to and from school and activities in a safe, timely manner.
• Assist in classroom activities and perform clerical duties as needed.
• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records.
