Job summary

The Ohio State University Newark campus is looking for an Undergraduate Academic Advisor 2 to provide academic advising and support to a designated group of undergraduate majors, helping students plan courses and understand degree requirements.

The successful candidate will promote student success through proactive advising, connect students with tutoring, career development, and wellness resources, and participate in orientation and course scheduling activities.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or 2+ years of equivalent experience (Master’s required for teaching).
• Experience in academic advising or higher education student support.
• Ability to explain complex degree requirements clearly to diverse students.

Responsibilities

• Provide and document individualized academic advising for undergraduate students regarding degree options, general education, and major requirements.
• Assist students in navigating university processes and connect them with campus resources for academic success and well-being.
• Support orientation programs by preparing materials and presenting information to students and families.
• Contribute to course scheduling and may teach or co-teach lessons in related survey courses.
