Chicago Public Schools is hiring a School Assistant – COVID Support to assist in classrooms and with remote learning coordination. Under supervision, you will support teachers, supervise students, and help with COVID testing logistics and attendance follow-ups.

The role also includes assisting families, devices access, and communication with guardians to ensure instructional continuity. The position requires a high school diploma or GED with experience in an educational setting and strong

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with six months of educational setting experience.
• Ability to operate basic office equipment.
• Strong English grammar and spelling.
• Ability to work with school-aged children.
• Good oral and written communication.
• Familiarity with AV equipment and PCs.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students during lunch and playground activities.
• Monitor corridors and review student ID cards.
• Assist students with completing classroom assignments.
• Assist teachers with bulletin boards and displaying work.
• Operate photocopying and audiovisual equipment.
• Maintain orderly classroom arrangement.
• Greet visitors and coordinate with teachers on student concerns.
• Provide tutoring under supervision.
• Assist with bus loading/unloading and attendance checks.
• Assist with processing new books under teacher supervision.
• Contact families to verify student absences.
• Support remote instruction and COVID-related logistics when needed.
