Job summary

Salem Regional Medical Center is seeking a Per Diem Student Intern Respiratory Therapist in the CPS department. The role provides hands-on experience across respiratory therapy, sleep studies, and cardio-pulmonary procedures under supervision.

The intern must be enrolled in an accredited respiratory therapy program, hold a temporary Ohio license, and demonstrate knowledge of respiratory procedures, sterile technique, medical terminology, and emergency responsiveness.

Qualifications

• Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
• Must be currently enrolled in a university program as a respiratory therapy student.
• Must have a temporary license from the state of Ohio.
• Must have complete understanding of all respiratory procedures and sterile techniques.
• Must have basic knowledge of how a respiratory department functions.
• Must have knowledge of medical terminology.
• Strong motivation to work with long term and acute care patients.
• Must be able to prioritize and work with general supervision.
• Must be able to function effectively and efficiently in emergencies.
• Must be able to make quick decisions when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision, acquire knowledge and develop skills in respiratory therapy, sleep center, EKG/EEG/holter, and stress testing.
• Perform assigned duties in accordance with policies and procedures as directed by manager to maintain an effective department.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Currently enrolled in university respiratory therapy program

Temporary license from the state of Ohio

Knowledge of medical terminology

Ability to prioritize and work with general supervision
