Job summary

The Duke Initiative for Science & Society is seeking a Researcher to support the Trustworthy Technology Lab, which launched in Summer 2026. In this role, you will oversee student research projects and report to the Program Coordinator in charge of the Trustworthy Technology Lab.

In addition, you will recruit, onboard, and manage a multidisciplinary team of students, guide research activities, and contribute to publications, blogs, and other communications about the work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Public Policy, Cybersecurity, Health Policy, or Technology Policy.
• Substantive knowledge in at least one area at the intersection of ethics and innovation (e.g., health, AI, privacy, climate, cybersecurity).
• Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Strong project management, interpersonal, stakeholder management, and attention to detail skills.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, onboard, and manage a multidisciplinary team of students to conduct novel research projects regarding trustworthy technology.
• Author publications, blogs, presentations, and other communications pieces about the research.
