Job description

Job Title: Student Research Technician

Department: Arts and Sciences | Physics Administration-JM

Responsibilities

Responsibilities are moderately technical or complex and have a high degree of responsibility and judgment. Must demonstrate excellent customer service, strong organizational skills, ability to work in a professional environment. Ability to work with and communicate effectively to direct activities to other students’ employees. Requires significant amount of specialized training or experience. Represent the department and the university with the highest degree of integrity applying OSU mission and shared values. The Student Research Technician will support a Physics education research project. This includes data collection, analysis, and dissemination of findings as appropriate. These students will gather, organize, and document data. Student(s) will need good communication, reporting and presentation skills. In addition to being excellent speakers, they may also have to be effective listeners to understand subjects and regarding the research process. Responsibilities are moderately technical or complex and have a high degree of responsibility and judgment. Qualifications/skills

This project focuses on a physics course for physics students, the Student Research Technician will need knowledge of physics courses and culture. Thus, they will have to have completed at least one physics course at OSU, preferably Physics 1248/1249. They will be required to complete Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) CITI training and be added to various institutional IRBs (e.g. held at various universities) where the research is housed. Employees will need to read and follow IRB approved protocols for collecting, accessing, and analyzing data for the respective projects. It will be required to follow this protocol through the duration of the project. Employees will also need to utilize the conceptual frameworks that guide the study.
