Job summary

Grady Health System in Atlanta is seeking a student radiologic technologist to assist radiologic staff, transport patients, prepare and perform imaging procedures under supervision, and coordinate care with the health care team.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in an Accredited Radiologic Technologist Program.
  • Active CPR/BLS certification is required.
  • Completion of at least 1 year of clinical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize AIDET and complete 2 patient identifiers.
  • Utilize left/right lead markers with 3 initials on applicable exams.
  • Position patient and equipment to best demonstrate the area of interest.
  • Track procedures in EPIC and audit images in PACS (Sectra).
  • Obtain and document patient history and consult radiologist as needed.
  • Maintain patient privacy and treat all patients with courtesy and respect.
  • Operate and train on digital equipment and report malfunctions.
  • Apply ALARA principles and use collimation to minimize exposure.
  • Prioritize STAT, routine, and trauma exams appropriately.
  • Follow radiation protection protocols and wear badges.
  • Transport patients and prepare for radiographic imaging with clear instructions.
  • Complete additional patient-care tasks in the X-ray department.

Job Summary

Under the direction of the radiologic technologist, the student technologist should be organized and detail oriented. They should be able to multitask and prioritize using good time management skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are also preferred. Additionally, student technologist should be able to work well independently but also as part of a team. A student technologist is responsible for performing a variety of technical procedures with minimal supervision. They should care for patients by transporting them to procedures, answering questions, preparing and performing imaging procedures. The student technologist also communicates with other members of the health care team to coordinate patient care.

Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Utilize AIDET and complete 2 patient identifiers
  • Utilize physical left or right lead markers that include their 3 initials on all applicable imaging exams.
  • Positions patient and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomical area of interest while ensuring and respecting the patient’s physical abilities and comfort level.
  • Properly tracks procedures utilizing Radiology information system (EPIC) and audit images on the PACs system (Sectra).
  • Obtains and documents appropriate history from patient or representative and consults with the radiologist when necessary. Reviews procedure versus clinical history and documents information.
  • Maintain the privacy and treat all patients and other customers with courtesy, dignity, and respect.
  • Operate and train on all digital and computerized equipment, report any equipment malfunctions.
  • Applies principles of ALARA safety and utilize collimation to minimize radiation exposure to patients, self, and others.
  • Prioritize STAT, routine and trauma exams by responding appropriately to requested calls.
  • Follow departmental radiation protection protocols and wear radiation badges at all times.
  • Transport patients and prepares for radiographic imaging; providing the necessary instructions to obtain the radiographs, gain cooperation and reduce patient’s anxiety.
  • Complete additional task related to patient care in the X-ray department.
Job Qualifications
  • Enrolled in an Accredited Radiologic Technologist Program
  • Active CPR/BLS certification
  • 1 year of clinical completion
