Southwest Community Church in Roanoke, VA is seeking a dedicated Student Pastor to lead our student ministry for grades 6–12 and shepherd families in a growing church.

The role is full-time with a strong emphasis on discipleship, leadership development, and clear communication. A clear faith testimony and SBC-aligned theology are essential, with opportunities to shape ministry pathways for the next generation.

Qualifications

• Clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a consistent Christian walk.
• Must affirm Baptist Faith and Message 2000 and align with SWCC's mission and leadership philosophy.
• Strong teaching, leadership, and theological discernment.
• Ability to communicate clearly and navigate conflict with wisdom and care.
• Ability to build teams, develop leaders, and care well for people.
• Willingness to become a member of SWCC upon hire or within an agreed-upon timeframe.

Responsibilities

• Lead Student Ministry: direct leadership for middle and high school ministry, including weekly gatherings, small groups, discipleship, student relationships, and events.
• Develop Next Generation Ministries: strengthen a clear discipleship pathway from childhood through young adulthood.
• Equip Leaders and Parents: recruit, train, and shepherd volunteers; partner with parents as disciple-makers in their homes.
• Create Healthy Ministry Environments: cultivate safe, welcoming, Christ-centered spaces for growth in biblical truth, community, and faith.
• Clear Communication: maintain communication with families, volunteers, and staff through social media, email, and church tools.
• Ministry Stewardship: oversee planning, calendars, budgets, and events including camps, retreats, and mission trips.
• Churchwide Partnership: align Next Generation ministries with SWCC's mission, vision, and leadership philosophy.

STUDENT PASTOR

Salary Range: $45,000 - $60,000 + Benefits Package

Position Summary

Southwest Community Church is prayerfully seeking a gifted, called, and theologically grounded Student Pastor to lead and shepherd our ministries from sixth through twelfth grade. As our church grows and prepares to move into a new facility, we are looking for a full-time leader who can provide vision, care, and direction for the next generation.

Primary Responsibilities

• Ability to communicate and navigate conflict with wisdom and care.
• Ability to build teams, develop leaders, and care well for people.
• Organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple ministry areas.
• Willingness to become a member of SWCC upon hire or within an agreed-upon timeframe.

Education & Experience

• Undergraduate degree, required. Theological or seminary training, preferred.
• 3-5+ years of fruitful ministry experience in a church setting, preferred.
