Job summary

Select Specialty Hospital in Pittsburgh is seeking a Student Nurse Tech (Future Registered Nurse) to support nursing teams on a per diem basis. You will assist with patient care under supervision and gain hands-on experience aligned with NCLEX preparation.

Responsibilities include taking vital signs, assisting with daily activities, urinary and specimen collection, and basic nursing tasks as directed by RNs. Current enrollment in ADN/BSN and BLS on hire are required.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an accredited nursing program (ADN/BSN) and provide proof of year-one completion.
• Able to perform basic nursing techniques and aseptic practices.
• BLS certification required on hire.
• Excellent communication and teamwork with patients, families, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Obtain vital signs, height, weight and demographic data.
• Assist with personal and daily care (bathing, oral hygiene, shaving, hair care).
• Assist with urinary catheter removal, finger sticks, bladder scans, routine urine and stool specimen collection, ostomy care.
• Remove peripheral IVs as directed by RN.
• Deliver meals and snacks, assist feeding, document oral intake.
• Turn and position immobile patients and participate in mobility program.
• Transport patients to designated areas.
• Current enrollment in nursing school with proof of first-year completion.

Position: Student Nurse Tech (Future Registered Nurse)

Location: Select Specialty Hospital - Pittsburgh

Schedule: Per Diem/PRN, 4 12 hr shifts every 6 weeks

Compensation: $20.00 per hour, plus shift differentials for nights and weekends

• This position requires current enrollment in an accredited nursing school (ADN or BSN program) and must provide proof of completion of the first year/fundamentals of nursing, (or equivalent).*

• Deliver meals and snacks, feed patients who are unable to feed themselves and document oral intake


• Turn and position immobile patients safely while maintaining proper body alignment; participate in mobility program


• Transport patients to designated areas, such as to and from various treatment centers


• Current enrollment in an accredited nursing school (ADN or BSN program) - must provide proof of completion of the first year/fundamentals of nursing (or equivalent)


• Knowledge of basic nursing techniques and procedures and aseptic practices


• Requires the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to follow written and verbal instructions, and to maintain effective working relations with others including patients, families, physicians and other hospital associates.


• BLS certification required upon hire
